I am a born and raised Texas "lifer" who dreams big, rarely knows a stranger, has a passion for volunteering, and a goal to see the world.
My current position as an IT Recruiter and Client Delivery Manager/Coordinator for the Solutions sector of Randstad Technologies will be put on hold (Don't worry, I'll be back!) in the coming weeks, as Randstad has provided me with the amazing opportunity to volunteer with their Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) partnership. VSO is the world's leading independent international development organization that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO's high impact approach involves bringing people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all.

On April 28th, I will be starting a Volunteer placement in Tanzania for 8 weeks as HR Advisor to join the EEVT project-Enhancing Employability through Vocational Training- that combines the efforts of VSO, VETA (Vocational Education Training Authority) and BG Tanzania to improve the employability of young people in the regions of Mtwara in Lindi with a focus on the growing demand for skilled labor in the gas industry.
My primary objectives will be to
1. Organize employers' forum and job fairs
2. Set up mechanism to ensure dialogue and referral between VETA centers
3. Advise VETA on management of industrial opportunities
4. Design software skills on resume development
I am incredibly excited and grateful to Randstad for this opportunity, and will share my stories and pictures along the way here- so come back and see my latest adventures.
Thanks and Gig' Em (Fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2005)
